4 Soldiers, The

2013

Above all, The Four Soldiers is a story of interconnecting destinies. During a civil war, a conflict that has robbed them of everything including their youth, four soldiers aged 15 to 21 meet and bond. Trapped in an adults’ war that they neither understand nor want any part of, Matéo (Christian de la Cortina), Dominique (Camille Mongeau), Big Max (Antoine Bertrand) and Kevin (Aliocha Schneider) save themselves by creating a kind of family, making their home in a cabin by a pond. Slowly, each of them finds his place. The family grows with the arrival of young Gabriel (Antoine L’Écuyer), who must be trained to their ways. The narrator, Dominique, immerses us in this beautiful, poignant, fleeting story.
